Fundamental Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
All Jiu-Jitsu training begins, and ends, with the fundamentals. As the old saying goes, you can’t learn to walk without learning how to crawl first. That holds true for almost anything you learn and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is no different. That’s why we start all of our students, from teenagers to adults and even older students, with the Fundamentals class. Learning the basic building blocks will carry you through all levels of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, from the white belt beginner to the experienced black belt.
In our BJJ Fundamentals class, you’ll work with trained instructors to learn basic movements and self defense techniques, as well as, guard and control positions and core submissions that make up the fundamentals of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It’s all covered and each student can take it at his or her pace. These fundamental movements and techniques illustrate how a smaller, weaker person can defend, and even defeat, a larger, stronger opponent or attacker.
We take this emphasis on the fundamentals so seriously that our higher level students and even some of our instructors will regularly take a step back and return to the Fundamentals class to brush up on areas where they may need tuning up. Not only does this make them better, it helps bolster the confidence of newer students when they see that even the ‘experts’ aren’t above focusing on the fundamentals.
Like all of our classes, the BJJ Fundamentals class is open to male and female students, those that are already fit, and those just beginning to get in shape. It will give you the skills and confidence you need to defend yourself. Particularly helpful for women in guarding against assault and equally applied by men when facing a physical attack.
Another focus of the Fundamentals class is an emphasis on safety. Because our classes are open to students of all ages and physical conditions, we realize how important it is to prevent injury. Techniques are demonstrated in a manner that emphasizes safety for students and their training partners, while offering real-life training situations. Our instructors work with students to ensure they not only learn the techniques properly, but in a manner that keeps everyone healthy and training.
BJJ Fundamentals class will give you the building blocks to advance all the way to Black Belt, regardless of the direction you want to take – self defense, competition, or as a healthy lifestyle.
